The parish Church of St Adalbert is situated in České Budějovice in Emy Destinnové Street in the Čtyři Dvory neighborhood, near the University of South Bohemia campus and the Academy of Sciences institutes. The church with an asymmetrically placed tower was built by Prague architect Jaroslav Čermák in 1938-1939. Its front wall is decorated with a massive wooden cross and carved wooden statues of St Adalbert and Prussian warriors by sculptor and carver Josef Vítek. The church is the heart of the St Adalbert’s parish, established in 1990 and encompassing the urban districts of České Budějovice on the left bank of the Vltava. The parish is run by Salesians, and the adjacent parochial house is the headquarters of the Salesian Youth Center.
