Budějovický Budvar
TOP - a recommended destination in České Budějovice
The Budějovický Budvar Brewery was established in 1895. Budweiser Budvar pale lager is the most important and best-known beer produced by the brewery, exported to more than 70 countries. Budějovický Budvar makes up about a quarter of the total Czech beer exports. The brewery continues the tradition of brewing original České Budějovice beer, which is 750 years old and uses tried-and-tested procedures and exclusively original ingredients. Thanks to it, České Budějovice beer boasts a Protected Geographical Indication.
You can learn about the brewing of original České Budějovice beer in detail during a guided tour of the brewery production areas. You will walk right over the production floor and watch the employees at work. You will be led by professionally trained guides with commentary in Czech or 6 major languages. The tour includes (for visitors of full age) a tasting of non-pasteurized unfiltered Budweiser Budvar lager from a tank in the lager cellar.
The Budějovický Budvar Visitor Center includes a modern multimedia exhibition entitled the “Story of České Budějovice Beer”, which vividly depicts the history of brewing in České Budějovice. First, the cage of a mine elevator will take you virtually to a depth of 300 meters to the Budějovice groundwater well, and then you can watch the history of both the city and its brewery using large-screen projections.
