Mallner House / Prindl House – Mallnerův dům / Prindlův dům

At the corner of Přemysl Otakar II Square in České Budějovice, where Piaristická Street meets, stands the exceptionally valuable Mallner House or Prindl House.

Though it does not have an imaginative classical façade, the arcade opens onto the square with two gothic arches. Next to the entrance, a beautiful Gothic window lining from the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries has recently been uncovered, as well as a fragment of the fresco of the Adoration of the Three Kings. 

The owner of the house, Ondřej Prindl, was one of the richest bourgeois of Budějovice at this time. His profits came mainly from the salt trade, which was transported from Linz via Freistadt.
