We cordially invite you to another year of the carnivorous plants exhibition of Markéta Aubrechtová and Martin Dlouhy on the terrace of the South Bohemian Museum. You can look forward to dozens of species that come from climatic zones all over the world. It is also open on Mondays.

Twenty-year old specimens of spirals from the wetlands of North America and flycatchers of the genus Dionaea dominate this exhibition. These can trap prey in just 0.5 seconds, the fastest visible movement in the plant kingdom.

In addition to these exceptional specimens, carnivorous lianas from the rainforests of Southeast Asia with large traps, dwarf sundews from Australia, penguins from the dry regions of Mexico or the very rare heliamphoras growing in inaccessible places in the table mountains of Venezuela will also be of interest.

Worthy of note are the terrestrial bubblers that trap prey underground and underwater. You can also enjoy the hardy carnivorous plants that can be grown outdoors all year round and can survive our harsh winters, and you can also see our native Czech carnivorous plants, such as Drosera rotundifolia.

The authors of the exhibition are Markéta Aubrechtová and Martin Dlouhý. Markéta Aubrechtová has been cultivating carnivorous plants for more than 20 years and during this time she has collected hundreds of species and hybrids of these plants. Currently, her collection and sales greenhouse in Borek near České Budějovice has an area of 312 m². Markéta Aubrechtová is a plant physiologist and is therefore able to put her professional knowledge into practice so that the plants thrive as much as possible. Together with her partner Martin Dlouhy, they exhibit and sell plants at fairs and specialised exhibitions not only in the Czech Republic. They also participate in very prestigious international events, including international orchid exhibitions in Dresden, Vienna and Budapest, and are the authors of the CarniForYou project.

Both Markéta and Martin are personally present during the exhibition and visitors can ask them questions about carnivorous plants. They will also advise on choosing plants for the home, garden, pond and peat bog. The exhibition is on sale for the entire duration.
