Church of St Anne
The Church of St Anne, along with the Capuchin monastery in České Budějovice, was established in the early 17th century by Empress Anna of Tyrol, the wife of Holy Roman Emperor Matthias. In the spirit of Capuchin architecture, the church is a simple single-nave structure with two chapels at the northern end. The last service was held in the church in 1974, and all the furniture was removed in 1976. Today, the church serves a different purpose altogether as a concert hall. It has been owned by the South Bohemian Philharmonic since 1988. The building is fully compliant with concert and operating requirements. Its advantageous location in the city center has made the concert hall one of the main cultural centers in the city. The heart of the building is the concert hall, named for Otakar Jeremiáš, a native of České Budějovice and a prominent composer. The hall has excellent acoustics and an auditorium for 218 visitors. The concert setting is complemented by a modern organ.
