Ride Someone Else’s Bike to a Castle or Art Gallery
No worries involved. Thanks to the bike-sharing program, just get on a bicycle and go. No need for technical maintenance, no fear of loss. You can do this instead of taking public transport around the city, or take a trip in its vicinity. Thanks to the cooperation of České Budějovice Rekola and Aleš South Bohemian Art Gallery, you can ride the bike to see a unique exhibition, for example.
The cycling trail connecting České Budějovice and Hluboká runs through beautiful countryside. The route is straight and comfortable, will stretch your body, and you can then lock the bike right into a rack outside the Aleš South Bohemian Art Gallery and the castle entrance.
About Rekola and bike-sharing
In České Budějovice, Rekola bikesharing was launched on the initiative of locals in September 2015. Other cities are part of the project as well: Praha, Brno, Olomouc, Teplice and Pardubice. This first Czech bikesharing scheme fits in the Smart Cities concept: it works on the base of a mobile application and is station-free. That means in practice that your monthly or annual membership or a one-off borrowing allows you to take one of the marked pink bicycles and return it anywhere within the designated zone. The users are thus not limited by locations of stations, and stations do not permanently block the public space. At present, Rekola works as a social enterprise.
