Church of the Divine Heart of Jesus
The Church of the Divine Heart of Jesus is located in České Budějovice in Rudolfovská Avenue. It is part of the convent of the Congregation of Sisters of the Eucharist. The adjacent buildings of the Congregation’s main convent house two church schools. The church is a single-nave structure in the Neo-Baroque style built by local master builder Jakub Stabernak in 1903-1904, based on his own design. The interior of this Roman Catholic church contains a pillar altar with a canopy and a painting of the Revelation of the Divine Heart of Jesus to St Margaret Mary Alacoque. The niche behind it is topped by a mural depicting the Adoration of the Eucharist by fifteen saints. There were once two chapels in the church, to the Virgin Mary and St John of Nepomuk, but the latter was cancelled. The Baroque pulpit came from the Hosín church, from where it was moved in the early 20th century. The church tower contains a carillon with eight bells. As part of the convent renovation in 1999, a new organ by Vladimír Šlajch, inspired by the instrument in the Zlatá Koruna monastery was installed.
